The Chalk Art Festival returns to Riviera Nayarit with new features

This 2011, along with the display of urban art and local gastronomy, the festival is preparing an exhibition of handcrafts and a jazz concert

The Chalk Art Festival and its traditional culinary fair ‘The Taste of Riviera Nayarit’ are coming back to our destination on January 19 – 21, 2011, offering an innovative concept that will make this year’s festival especially appealing.

Both local and international specialists in the art of chalk drawing, including three-dimensional urban art, have been invited to participate in the event by creating of works of art under the theme “Children of Nayarit”, while they compete for cash prizes for the first and second place. Starting on Wednesday, January 19, visitors will enjoy watching artists work; in addition, workshops will be offered on Friday 21 to teach this technique to approximately 150 local children.

Artists will work directly on the Lazaro Carenas street in Bucerias, between Benito Juarez and Galeana, which will be closed to traffic.

‘The Taste of Riviera Nayarit’ festival will take place within an innovative showcase of urban art, where local restaurants will offer tasty treats and specialty dishes at reduced prices ranging from $10 to $30 pesos. Additionally, local artisans will be working and offering their products directly at the festival, which will be a first for this event.

As if this weren’t enough, on Thursday, January 20, Armi will play jazz music while organizers conduct a raffle of works of art, coupons to dine at local restaurants and other prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Manos de Amor Orphanage, the Bucerias Craft Club, and the Bucerias Chalk Art Walk.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) of Riviera Nayarit congratulates the festival’s founder Christy Beguesse and the teams of volunteers involved in the Chalk Art Festival, in the Taste of Nayarit event and in the Bucerias Art Walk, as their work towards this second edition contributes to position our destination among the preferences of tourists looking for special cultural and gastronomic experiences.
